Entering the peak period of the 2026 summer travel season, Quang Ninh is demonstrating a proactive and methodical approach to preparations, from infrastructure and new products to destination management and promotion. With the goal of welcoming 22 million visitors, including 5.2 million international visitors, and generating VND 65 trillion in tourism revenue in 2026, Quang Ninh is not only aiming to increase visitor numbers but is particularly focused on improving the quality of tourism services and affirming its position as a leading destination in the country and the region.
An “explosion” of exciting events
Opening the summer peak season is the 2026 Quang Ninh Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Week welcoming summer, themed “Ha Long Carnaval 2026 - Wonders Lighting Up a New Era,” taking place from April 25 through May 3. The event is expected to attract 1.3 million visitors, contributing to the goal for the second quarter of 2026 of welcoming 5.92 million visitors and generating estimated revenue of VND 18.176 trillion.
The highlight of the 2026 Quang Ninh Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Week welcoming summer is the opening art program, “Ha Long Carnaval 2026 - Wonders Lighting Up a New Era,” scheduled to begin at 20:00 on April 30 at October 30 Square (Ha Long Ward), with a capacity of up to 50,000 people. The program will include a parade, a ceremony and art performances.
Alongside this will be a series of special events promising to create a vibrant and brilliant festival atmosphere for welcoming visitors, including the street carnival “Dance of the Five Continents” - Quang Ninh Welcomes Summer, taking place from April 28 to May 2 along the coastal road in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Bai Chay wards and heading toward October 30 Square; the street music performance “Sounds by the Bay,” from April 28 to May 3 at October 30 Square and along the Bai Chay coastal road; and a competition to design and create models of distinctive Quang Ninh parade vehicles, parading from April 28 to May 2 along the coastal road in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Bai Chay wards and heading toward October 30 Square.
In addition, activities such as the Đức Ông Trần Quốc Nghiễn Temple Festival will take place over two days, from April 29-30, at Đức Ông Trần Quốc Nghiễn Temple; the “wave festival” light show featuring Heritage Bay of Ha Long cruise ships will take place from April 28 to May 2 in the coastal area from Hon Gai Beach - Ha Long International Cruise Port to Tuan Chau International Cruise Port. A total of 50 cruise ships will be decorated with synchronized artistic lighting systems and move in formation along the coastal route, combined with music and coastal light effects to create a distinctive visual highlight.
From April 25 to May 3, residents and visitors will also have the opportunity to attend Quang Ninh Film Week welcoming summer 2026 at the Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace and the Provincial Museum-Library; an exhibition of literary and artistic works and sculptures from the Mining Region at October 30 Square and along the Bai Chay coastal road; the International Food Street - Ha Long at October 30 Square or Sun Canival Square (Bai Chay Ward); hot-air balloon performances and the “Fly Up with the Wonders” experience at October 30 Square and Bai Chay tourism area (Bai Chay Ward); and an OCOP product fair and introduction to Vietnamese folk art forms at Sun Canival Square, the Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace and October 30 Square, featuring 120 local booths along with a series of special sports activities.
Activities are not limited to Ha Long and Bai Chay wards. Destinations with strengths in marine and island tourism, such as Co To Special Zone, Van Don, Mong Cai 1 Ward and Cai Chien Commune, are also simultaneously launching summer tourism-stimulus programs through attractive cultural, artistic and sporting activities, helping spread the vibrant atmosphere throughout the province.
At the same time, tourism businesses are also actively joining in, launching numerous new products and attractive packages and improving service quality to meet visitors’ increasingly diverse needs during the peak season.
According to a representative of Paradise Vietnam, in addition to maintaining the quality of day cruises and overnight cruises on Ha Long Bay, the entertainment activities on the Paradise Delight day cruise have also been changed to diversify experiences suitable for different visitor groups, including LED dances and DJ performances on the first floor, a floating cinema at the second-floor restaurant, and music performances on the sundeck after dinner... Paradise Vietnam is also offering promotions for customers flying with Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi, Quang Ninh or Hai Phong, with discounts of up to 25% on overnight cruise products and 30% on day cruises and hotels, applied flexibly according to each ticket class. In addition, the company regularly conducts personnel training and development to update trends, improve the quality of experiences and offer visitors luxurious, safe and distinctive holiday journeys.
Affirming a safe, friendly and civilized destination
Alongside renewing products and expanding experiences, Quang Ninh is paying particular attention to building a safe and civilized tourism environment. Following the adjustment of administrative boundaries and implementation of the two-tier local government model, Bai Chay Ward remains one of the province’s key tourism areas. The ward currently has nearly 400 accommodation establishments with more than 18,000 rooms, together with a system of beaches, routes and destinations meeting standards. It also manages major piers and serves as a gateway for visitors exploring Ha Long Bay. Faced with rising visitor numbers, and even before the peak season officially begins, local authorities have proactively tightened management, aiming to build an image of a safe, civilized and professional destination.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Bai Chay Ward People’s Committee, said: “The locality always focuses on building an image of safe and friendly tourism. In preparation for the summer travel season, we are increasing reviews and inspections of accommodation activities and food safety, and ensuring that prices are publicly and transparently posted. We will resolutely address touting, overcharging, encroachment on roads and sidewalks, and ensure an open and civilized tourism environment for visitors.”
Positive signals from Quang Ninh’s tourism sector have been recorded since the beginning of the year. In the first quarter of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed approximately 6.3 million visitors, an increase of about 10% compared with the same period in 2025. Of these, domestic visitors were estimated at nearly 4.9 million, while international visitors were estimated at 1.4 million. Total tourism revenue in the first quarter of 2026 was estimated at VND 15.687 trillion, up 20% from the same period in 2026. This is an important foundation for the province to enter the summer season proactively and with expectations of strong growth.
To continue expanding its markets, Quang Ninh is stepping up tourism promotion through multiple channels, including participating in international fairs, organizing fam trips and press trips, and strengthening connections with airlines… Through these efforts, it is continuously increasing destination recognition on the international tourism map.
With comprehensive preparations ranging from products and infrastructure to management and promotion, Quang Ninh is ready for a vibrant and professional 2026 summer travel season.
