Truc Bai Son Lake spans an area of 110ha, with water converging from mountain streams flowing from the hamlets and villages of Quang Moi, Tai Chi, and Lo Ma Cooc.

The irrigation project at the lake commenced construction in 1988 and was officially put into operation in 1991. It functions to regulate floods and supply irrigation water for agricultural land across the communes of Quang Son, Quang Phong, Quang Chinh, Quang Long, Quang Dien, Quang Thinh, and Quang Trung in Hai Ha District.

Truc Bai Son Lake lies approximately 15km from the district center. To get here, visitors follow National Highway 18A towards Mong Cai, then turn left at the Quang Long Commune junction and drive about 11km to reach the lake.

Although not yet as widely known as other tourist hotspots, the lake attracts numerous visitors every weekend for picnics and outdoor recreation. Its waters abound with fish, shrimp, and freshwater aquatic life, providing a sustainable fishing livelihood for many nearby residents over the years.

Each season of the year presents its own distinct charm, yet autumn remains arguably the most stunning time to visit. On misty mornings, drifting on a dugout canoe across the crystal-clear water while gazing out at Mount Duc towering around 1,000m in the distance is an unforgettable experience.

On sunny days, Truc Bai Son Lake turns into a flawless natural painting, dotted with solitary islets where golden-hued foliage mingles with evergreen trees that thrive all year round.

Viewed from above, the lake is cradled by undulating mountain ranges blanketed largely by primeval forests rich in rare medicinal herbs, vibrant wild blossoms that bloom in seasonal colors cascading towards the waters, and local plantations of cinnamon and acacia trees.

The limpid, tranquil water leaves a lasting impression on visitors. In the late afternoons, as sunlight filters through mountain ridges, the local Dao ethnic people can be seen diligently clearing brush and harvesting cinnamon across the surrounding slopes. Travelers can take a motorboat or paddle leisurely to admire the pristine mountain lake scenery, cast a fishing line, or relish grilled delicacies right on the shore.

While visiting Truc Bai Son Lake, travelers can also venture to Tai Chi Village to admire Doi Waterfall (Twin Falls), a majestic symbol of love naturally sculpted by nature amidst the old-growth forests.

In Quang Son Commune, up to 90% of the population belongs to the Dao ethnic group. The local community still preserves many traditional customs, and most women are skilled in embroidering heritage ethnic attire.
