• Elephant trunk clam: This is a very hardy type of snail, found especially abundantly on Quan Lạn Island. The elephant trunk clam has an elliptical shell and thin, easy-to-peel skin. Its distinctive feature is its very large mouth protruding from the shell. This snail can be used in many delicious and appealing dishes, so don’t forget to try it when visiting Quan Lạn Beach!

3What to buy as gifts when visiting Quan Lạn Beach 

When traveling to Quan Lạn Island, if you want to buy local specialties as gifts, what could be better than seafood? You can find a wide variety of the freshest live seafood at Quan Lạn Central Market, located right in the center of Quan Lạn Island Commune. However, its major drawback is that the market operates early in the morning, for only two hours from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Therefore, you have to wake up very early, head to the market, and wait for the fishing boats returning from their overnight trips to buy delicious seafood.

Despite these operating hours, Quan Lạn Central Market is always bustling with people coming and going because it offers countless types of seafood—almost anything can be found there. If you have the chance, visit early in the morning to watch the activities of the seaside villagers before sunrise and experience the peaceful, simple life of the local people.
