Bai Dinh Pagoda
As the largest pagoda in Vietnam featured on the Northern Vietnam 5D4N tour, Bai Dinh Pagoda leaves visitors in awe of its majestic scale by day and enchanted by its mystical ambiance at night. The ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda was discovered by Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong, who transformed the caves into a Buddhist sanctuary when he ventured here seeking medicinal herbs to cure King Ly Than Tong of his tiger affliction.

The ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda sits on a 187m-high mountain, located about 800m from the Tam The Hall of the new pagoda complex. Nestled in a quiet mountain forest, the complex consists of a front hall in the center, a bright cave dedicated to Buddha, followed by the shrine of Cao Son Deity; turning to the left leads to the shrine of Saint Nguyen, and further along is the dark cave honoring the Mother Goddess and fairies.

This location rests upon sacred ground endowed with exceptional spiritual energy—a land that gave birth to Kings, Saints, and Deities. During the resistance wars, Bai Dinh Pagoda also served as a secret base where leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam propagated revolutionary ideas to the local populace.

The entire church was constructed from dressed stone bonded with a mixture of sand, lime, and sugarcane molasses. The wall surrounding the cross was textured like cascading stalactites, enhancing its natural beauty. The roof is tiled, and the straw-lime ceiling has since been renovated. Notably, the ceiling of the bell tower, made from a blend of lime, straw, and iron, remains preserved intact to this day.
