During each peak summer travel period, Quang Ninh welcomes millions of visitors from provinces and cities across the country for relaxation, exploration and experiences. This large domestic visitor base not only brings vitality to destinations, but also creates room for Quang Ninh’s tourism sector to diversify its products, expand the scope of experiences and move toward sustainable development.
This summer, tourists are tending to extend their stays and experience services in Quang Ninh. Rather than focusing on just one destination, many families and groups are choosing 2-3-day holidays that combine relaxation, sightseeing at scenic attractions, entertainment, local cultural experiences and culinary exploration. The journey is also expanding from Ha Long to localities including Van Don, Co To, Binh Lieu, Dong Trieu and Yen Tu, helping distribute visitor flows across more areas of the province.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ha, a tourist from Hanoi, said: Since 2024, my family has traveled to Quang Ninh five times because transportation is convenient and fast, and there are many new and unusual tourism products. Although we had visited Ha Long on previous trips, my family decided to return this time because of the night market and fireworks. Moreover, everyone in the family loves Quang Ninh seafood, so we chose to stay one night in Hong Gai to explore more of the local culture and cuisine.
The demand for short trips and weekend getaways among residents of major cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Hung Yen is rising sharply. With the transport infrastructure becoming increasingly complete, including a seamlessly connected expressway network that has significantly shortened travel times, visitors can easily plan 2-day 1-night or 3-day 2-night trips to Quang Ninh. At the same time, renewing and developing tourism products is helping the province attract not only first-time visitors to Quang Ninh, but also those who return multiple times to experience new products and destinations.
Summer is also the peak season for MICE visitors, as many businesses, corporations and agencies organize holidays and incentive programs combined with team-building activities for their staff and employees. Quite a few groups have between 1,000 and 2,000 people, creating a large and stable source of visitors for destinations in Quang Ninh.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, General Director of Vitamin Tours and Event, said: Recently, we have continuously welcomed many MICE groups to Quang Ninh, with more than 1,000 visitors, mainly from corporations and companies in the northern and central regions. Visitors are particularly fond of several itineraries, including cultural experiences in Hong Gai with traditional ceremonies at the Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien Temple, the heritage cultural space at Yen Tu, and agricultural tourism in Dong Trieu and Binh Lieu...
Keeping up with domestic market trends, tourism businesses have proactively developed many demand-stimulating packages. Resorts and hotels have launched special offers for families and groups of friends. Many travel agencies have designed weekend experience tours, cultural discovery tours, culinary tours and programs combining relaxation with health care. Numerous cultural and sporting events and festivals are also held throughout all 4 seasons, helping extend stays and increase visitor spending. In particular, the strong development of the night-time economy is creating an additional "plus point" for the domestic market. Walking streets, night markets, artistic performances, culinary spaces and entertainment activities along Bai Chay’s coast have become popular meeting places for tourists.
Alongside product development, Quang Ninh is also focusing on applying technology to tourism promotion and marketing. Digital platforms, social media, experience videos and livestream programs introducing destinations are being rolled out extensively, helping bring the image of Quang Ninh closer to young visitors.
In the first half of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed more than 12.4 million visitors, of whom domestic tourists continued to account for a large proportion, at approximately 9.8 million, making an important contribution to the tourism sector’s total revenue of nearly 35,200 billion VND. In the coming period, the province will continue focusing on tapping major visitor sources from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities with many industrial parks through cooperation with airlines, travel businesses and major tourism corporations; in particular, effectively developing visitor flows from Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces via Van Don Airport, with a frequency of 1 flight/day. In addition, it will gradually build a high-end tourism ecosystem featuring luxury resorts, health care, golf, cruises and MICE tourism, targeting visitors with high spending capacity and longer stays in order to increase competitiveness and enhance visitor experiences.
