From September 1, people can begin traveling on the Vân Đồn–Móng Cái Expressway at a maximum speed of 100 km/h, with tolls waived through the end of September.
Inauguration of the Vân Đồn–Móng Cái Expressway, Vietnam’s Most Beautiful VND 13-Trillion Highway
Construction began on April 3, 2019, the Vân Đồn–Móng Cái Expressway is nearly 80 km long, with four lanes and a roadbed width of 25.25 m. After its inauguration, the expressway will reduce travel time from Vân Đồn to Móng Cái to just 50 minutes, instead of two hours, and connect with the Bạch Đằng–Hạ Long and Hạ Long–Vân Đồn expressways to form a 176-km corridor, making Quảng Ninh the province with the greatest number of expressway kilometers in the country.
This road corridor connects with the Hà Nội–Hải Phòng Expressway, reducing travel time from Hà Nội to Móng Cái to just three hours, instead of the previous 5.5 hours. The Vân Đồn–Móng Cái Expressway’s completion has enabled the opening of the entire route connecting the three most important border gates in northern Vietnam—Lào Cai, Hữu Nghị (Lạng Sơn), and Móng Cái (Quảng Ninh)—with a total length of more than 571.5 km.
This is the Vân Đồn–Móng Cái Expressway, the country’s longest interregional expressway to date, running through Hà Nội and providing an important impetus for the region, serving as a transit link between East Asia, Southeast Asia, and China, and promoting expanded interregional cooperation in the Northeast and the Red River Delta.
