Hua Mountain Stork Forest, located in Dai Binh Commune, Dam Ha District, is home to thousands of snow-white storks. The storks glide across the clear blue sky, while the endless green rice fields below bring a peaceful beauty to this land.
Hua Mountain Stork Forest – Home to Thousands of Storks in Quang Ninh
Hua Mountain Stork Forest about 10 km from the center of Dam Ha District, is an archaeological site where many stone tools used by ancient Vietnamese people were discovered, and is also home to a large flock of storks.

When the first families arrived to reclaim the land and establish a hamlet in Lang Ruong in the 1970s, small flocks of white storks began flying back sporadically. Since then, more and more storks have returned to the area, forming the large flock seen today.

From those early days, the families in Lang Ruong were conscious of not hunting the storks and worked hard to preserve their habitat, allowing the countryside to remain tranquil and peaceful. Today, the storks here include many different species, such as pond herons, little egrets, Chinese pond herons, intermediate egrets…

Hua Mountain Stork Forest is a habitat for the flock of storks, divided into three layers. The top layer, with its tall treetops, is where the storks perch and rest. The middle layer consists of branches where the storks build their nests. The lowest layer comprises branches close to the ground, where young storks practice flying and search for food.

In summer, the storks enter their breeding and growth season, making the forest lively, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Therefore, summer is also a suitable time to visit the stork forest and admire its pristine natural beauty.

If visiting the stork forest in winter, visitors can discover many interesting things. At the foot of Hua Mountain, an archaeological site still exists, with the original elements of the site remaining almost intact and featuring unique artifact types, particularly the two-ended pointed tool. This is the only example of this type of tool discovered at Hua Mountain to date.

Hua Mountain was also a revolutionary base and the place where the first Communist Party cell in Dam Ha District was established. In 2012, the Hua Mountain archaeological, historical and scenic site was recognized as a provincial-level heritage site.

From the foot of Hua Mountain, visitors can follow a walking path with 459 steps to reach the Hua Mountain flagpole. From the flagpole, visitors can take in a panoramic view of the vast mountains and forests and enjoy watching flocks of pure-white storks flying high in the sky.

To reach Hua Mountain Stork Forest, visitors travel by road to Dam Ha District, turn into Dai Binh Commune, then ask for directions to Lang Ruong Hamlet at the foot of Hua Mountain. Alternatively, visitors can stop at the district's central post office and then take a motorbike taxi or taxi to the stork forest.
