During each peak summer travel season, Quang Ninh welcomes millions of visitors from provinces and cities across the country to relax, explore, and experience. The large influx of domestic tourists not only brings vitality to destinations, but also creates room for Quang Ninh's tourism industry to diversify its products, expand experiential spaces, and move toward sustainable development.
This summer, visitors tend to extend their length of stay and experience more services in Quang Ninh. Instead of focusing on just one destination, many families and tourist groups opt for 2-3 day vacations, combining relaxation, sightseeing at scenic spots, entertainment, local cultural experiences, and culinary exploration. Itineraries have also expanded beyond Ha Long to localities such as Van Don, Co To, Binh Lieu, Dong Trieu, and Yen Tu, contributing to distributing tourist flows across multiple areas in the province.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ha, a visitor from Hanoi, shared: Since 2024, my family has traveled to Quang Ninh 5 times because transportation is convenient and fast, and there are many novel tourism products. Although we visited Ha Long on previous trips, this time my family still decided to return because of the night market and fireworks. Moreover, all family members love Quang Ninh seafood, so we chose to stay overnight in Hong Gai to explore more of the local culture and cuisine.
The demand for short trips and weekend getaways among residents of major urban areas such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen is surging. With an increasingly comprehensive transportation infrastructure system, including seamlessly connected expressways, travel times have been significantly shortened, making it easy for tourists to plan 2-day-1-night or 3-day-2-night trips to Quang Ninh. Along with this, refreshing and developing tourism products has helped the province not only attract first-time visitors, but also return travelers eager to experience new products and destinations.
Summer is also peak season for MICE travelers as numerous enterprises, corporations, and organizations host retreat and incentive programs combined with team-building activities for their staff. Many delegations number between 1,000 and 2,000 guests, generating a large and steady influx of visitors to destinations across Quang Ninh.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, General Director of Vitamin Tours and Event, stated: Recently, we have continuously welcomed many MICE groups to Quang Ninh with group sizes of over 1,000 visitors, primarily from corporations and companies in the Northern and Central regions. Several itineraries featuring Hong Gai cultural experiences with traditional rituals at the Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien Temple, heritage cultural spaces at Yen Tu, or agritourism in Dong Trieu and Binh Lieu... have been immensely enjoyed by travelers.
Grasping the trends of the domestic tourist market, tourism enterprises have actively designed numerous stimulus packages. Resorts and hotels have rolled out promotional deals for families and groups of friends. Many tour operators have designed weekend experiential tours, cultural discovery tours, culinary tours, or programs combining wellness retreats with healthcare. A wide array of cultural, sporting, and festival events are also organized across all 4 seasons, helping extend length of stay and increase tourist spending. In particular, the robust growth of the night economy has added another major "plus point" for the domestic market. Pedestrian streets, night markets, art performance programs, culinary spaces, and seaside entertainment activities along Bai Chay have become popular rendezvous spots for visitors.
Parallel to product development, Quang Ninh also places great emphasis on applying technology in promotion and marketing. Digital platforms, social networks, experiential videos, and live-streaming destination showcases have been aggressively implemented, bringing the image of Quang Ninh closer to young travelers.
In the first half of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed over 12.4 million visitor arrivals, with domestic visitors continuing to account for a major share at approximately 9.8 million arrivals, making a crucial contribution to the sector's total revenue of nearly 35,200 billion VND. In the coming time, the province will continue to focus on tapping into major visitor markets from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and provinces and cities with numerous industrial parks through partnerships with airlines, tour operators, and major travel corporations; including effectively expanding the visitor flow from Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces via the Van Don air route at a frequency of 1 flight/day. In addition, it will step-by-step build a high-end tourism ecosystem featuring luxury resorts, wellness retreats, golf, cruises, and MICE tourism targeting high-spending and long-stay guests to boost competitiveness and enhance visitor experiences.
