Da Chong Mountain is associated with legends and place names such as: Khe Mung, Khe Lieu, Phuong Hoang Mountain... and is also a sacred mountain to the Dao Thanh Y people. In ancient times, a celestial general led his troops through this region. After traveling a very long distance without finding any drinking water, they finally reached the area of present-day Da Chong Mountain and came across a crystal-clear stream.

Overjoyed, he ordered the troops to halt; however, partly because the army was large and the stream was narrow and long, he used his hands to dig the stream wider so his soldiers would have enough drinking water. Engrossed in the work, the rising stream water soaked the hem of his robe, so he took off his armor and looked for a place to dry it; he took a pole to span across the two peaks of Mount Da Dai and Mount Da Chong.

However, because the peak of Da Chong was lower than that of Da Dai, he gathered rocks and placed them on the mountain peak to make both sides even before resting the pole to dry his robe. That stream came to be called Khe Mung, and the mountain where he rested the pole to dry his robe was called Da Chong Mountain.

A sea of clouds often appears halfway up the mountain here, enveloping the entire pine forest surrounding Yen Lap Lake. Located at an altitude of over 400 m above sea level, the unique beauty of the summit of Da Chong Mountain has become an appealing destination.

To explore Da Chong Mountain, visitors should be fully equipped with life buoys and life jackets, and prepare food and drinking water. In particular, it is essential to have a local guide, and one should absolutely never climb onto the tops of the rock outcrops, as this is extremely dangerous for any visitor.
