On the afternoon of March 22, at Novotel Ha Long Bay Hotel (Bai Chay Ward), the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Visit Indochina Company (Da Nang City) to organize a program connecting with, introducing, and promoting Quang Ninh tourism to a famtrip delegation comprising representatives of 60 travel businesses from Chiang Mai and Bangkok, Thailand.
With a population of nearly 72 million, an average income of approximately USD 7,000 per person per year, the advantage of geographic proximity, and a visa exemption policy for entry into Vietnam, Thailand is identified as one of the highly potential markets for Vietnamese tourism in general and Quang Ninh in particular.
During this famtrip program, Thai travel businesses directly surveyed and experienced the province’s typical tourism products, including the Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape Complex; cruises on Ha Long Bay; and an immersive show in Ngoc Rong Cave at the Vung Duc Monuments Complex… Based on these experiences, they assessed the potential and developed tours and itineraries suited to the needs and preferences of the Thai market.
Alongside the field survey activities, the program also organized a business-to-business (B2B) networking session, creating opportunities for travel businesses from both sides to exchange ideas and develop all-inclusive tourism products combining transportation, accommodation, and experiences at competitive prices suited to each customer segment.
Through the experiential activities and direct working sessions, the Thai famtrip delegation highly appreciated Quang Ninh’s potential and outstanding advantages, particularly its distinctive tourism resources, including Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage Site and the Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape Complex World Cultural Heritage Site, together with its synchronized tourism infrastructure, convenient transportation, and rich culinary identity. These are considered an important foundation for strongly attracting Thai visitors in the coming period.
This famtrip program not only contributed to establishing specific cooperation relationships between businesses from both sides, but also opened up opportunities to develop specialized tourism products for the Thai market, promote two-way visitor exchanges, and enhance the competitiveness and position of Quang Ninh tourism in regional and international markets.
Speaking at the program, a representative of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed that this was an important activity in Quang Ninh’s strategy to expand international markets. The department also pledged to continue accompanying the businesses, creating favorable conditions, and providing maximum support for Thai enterprises to learn about, cooperate in, and effectively develop the local tourism market.
