If your goal is only to: put on ethnic costumes → take photos → get back on the bus then Vong Tre will simply become a backdrop. But if you spend half a day or a full day, this place can help you understand a very different cultural layer of Van Don.
Vong Tre village currently has more than 1,500 residents, with over 85% being San Diu people, still preserving their customs, beliefs, Soong co singing, housing architecture, and agricultural life.
Start from the traditional house
Do not skip the guided presentation. The exhibition space currently includes:
-
Costumes.
-
Ritual books.
-
Worship paintings.
-
Musical instruments.
-
Daily life artifacts.
-
A model of the Dai Phan Festival.
Once you understand what those things are, observing everyday life outside will become much more meaningful.
Walk around the village
Local sources describe the Vong Tre experience as tied to:

-
Fields.
-
Gardens.
-

-
Folk activities.
-
Soong co.
-
Community life.
Listening to Soong co
Soong co is the singing art of the San Diu people. If there is a performance program:
-
Sit and listen.
-
Do not speak loudly.
-
Do not crowd among the singers.
-
Ask before livestreaming.
Do not confuse Soong co with Soong co (Soóng Cọ) of the San Chi people in Binh Lieu.
Costumes
If the community provides a costume try-on service:
-
Ask how to wear them properly.
-
Do not pull, adjust, or mix accessories arbitrarily without understanding their meaning.
-
Return items to the right place.
Traditional attire is not simply a costume.
What to buy?
If there are products available:
-
Food.
-
Handicrafts.
-
Agricultural produce.
prioritize buying directly from the community when appropriate. That is how tourism creates local economic value.
Quick checklist

Take it slow.
-
Do not enter houses uninvited.
-
Ask permission before photographing people.
-
Do not confuse Soọng cô with Soóng Cọ.
-

-
Support community products.
-
Do not demand locals to “reenact” rituals to shoot videos.
