The Temple of Literature is located in Dong Da District, Hanoi, amid four main streets: Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ton Duc Thang, Van Mieu, and Quoc Tu Giam. The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 during the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong as a place of worship for Confucius, Zhou Gong, and the Four Assessors. In 1076, King Ly Nhan Tong established the Imperial Academy beside it as a university exclusively for the sons of kings and noble families. During the reign of King Tran Thai Tong, the Imperial Academy was renamed the “National Academy” and began accepting commoners’ children with outstanding academic ability.

The Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy includes many small architectural structures enclosed by walls. After undergoing numerous historical upheavals, the complex has been renovated many times. To this day, it continues to attract large numbers of tourists.
Ba Dinh Square
Ba Dinh Square is located on Hung Vuong Street and is where the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was built. One Pillar Pagoda, also known as Mat Pagoda or “Dien Huu Tu,” is a pagoda in the heart of Hanoi with unique architecture featuring a lotus platform at its center. It was built during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. Since its construction, the pagoda has been preserved and undergone several major restoration campaigns, the most significant taking place in 1954 after it was blown up by the French.
This is a creative architectural structure combining an architectural space with varying heights and rhythms, including sculptures, paintings, carved and decorated corridors, and water surfaces that symbolize high cultural and artistic values with a strong national character. Not only is One Pillar Pagoda regarded as having the most unique artistic architecture in Vietnam, but it is also a spiritual destination and a millennium-old cultural symbol of Hanoi.

Bai Dinh Pagoda is located at the western gateway of the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital complex, beside National Highway 38B, in Gia Sinh Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh, 15 km from Ninh Binh City and north of the Trang An World Heritage complex. It can be considered one of the largest pagoda complexes and holds many records.
